Chopping Board
Different Types of Chopping Boards
It’s true, believe it or not. For even a thing as innocuous and staid as a chopping board, there are available today very many varieties in the market, all designed specifically for specific foodstuffs. Here’s a quick go-through of these varieties.
Traditionally, chopping boards are made of wood, especially hardwood. Now, there come a variety of wood chopping board, each with its own merits and drawbacks – for example, bamboo boards are resistant to bacteria, yet require careful maintenance. Besides wood, chopping boards are also made of marble, plastic – soft, thin, and hard, thick – and glass boards. The most durable and lowest on maintenance of all of these is the plastic prototype.
Besides material, chopping boards are also differentiated on the type of foodstuff they’re used for. Leading this is Joseph Joseph with its set of four, colour coded chopping boards, each meant for a different type of foodstuff and even made with different material as such.
